Tom has decades of railroad journalism experience, including more than seven years as editor of Progressive Railroading and about 12 years in public relations with the Chicago and North Western Railway. His father and grandfather were both railroad employees. He has also worked with business publications in the dairy processing and medical supply industries and as vice president of a Chicago public relations firm.

Tom earned a bachelor's degree with a major in Rhetoric at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, then served a hitch in the U.S. Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in South Vietnam as a combat correspondent.

Mischa Wanek-Libman has joined Railway Track & Structures as Managing Editor. She is originally from Grand Island, Neb., and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a major in magazine Journalism. Mischa has worked for 515 Magazine and Drake Magazine, both in Des Moines, and 08004homes.com in London, U.K.
