Port of Long Beach: Second-Busiest August on Record

LONG BEACH, Calif. –– Peak shipping season boosted the Port of Long Beach, Calif., to its second-busiest August on record and the sixth-busiest month in its 114-year history “as retailers continued to see the arrival of goods purchased during a recent pause in tariffs,” the Port reported on Sept. 15.

Port of Mobile Begins Fourth Phase of Terminal Expansion

MOBILE, Ala. – [Last Week] the Alabama Port Authority announced the commencement of the fourth phase of its container terminal expansion, which will double the capacity of the container terminal from half a million to over one million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) a year.

UP: New Intermodal Terminal Coming to Kansas City

OMAHA –– Construction is under way for a new Union Pacific (UP) intermodal terminal in Kansas City, Mo., which the Class I railroad said will serve both domestic and international containerized shipments of grains, consumer goods, refrigerated products, and pet foods. It is expected to open in mid-2025, adding capacity to UP’s current Kansas City operation.

SC Ports Boosting Rail Capabilities
