MTA restores Bronx subway station

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority rededicated its East180th Street subway station on March 15 following a rehabilitation of the century-old structure.

The Amtrak Board of Directors elected Anthony Coscia to be its next chairman and elected Jeffrey Moreland as vice chairman.

Dakota Plains Holdings, Inc., and joint-venture partner, Petroleum Transport Solutions, LLC, started construction for the Pioneer Project in North Dakota, an expansion of the New Town transloading facility located in the heart of the Williston Basin.

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) has entered the next stage of tunnel construction where two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) "Yorkie" and "Torkie" will create twin tunnels linking the site of the future Highway 407 Station to the Steeles West Station site.

In Seattle, Wash., Sound Transit will conduct an open house on March 19 as part of an alternatives analysis to seek public input on the narrowing down of corridor alternatives for a potential project to expand the 1.6-mile Tacoma Link light-rail system that now operates between the Tacoma Dome and Theater District stations.

KCS Officer on a Train event in Oklahoma

Kansas City Southern (KCS) and the Poteau Police Department hosted an Officer on a Train event on March 14 to promote public safety at railroad crossings in Poteau, Okla.

Marking the end of post-Sandy interim rail schedules and reflecting improvements made possible by the restoration of a key power substation, New Jersey Transit's electric-powered trains will resume service to Hoboken Terminal starting Sunday, March 24.

Major repair work will begin this spring on the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Metro-North Railroad bridge over the Croton River.
