Ansaldo STS awarded MBTA PTC contract

Ansaldo STS was awarded a $338-million contract from Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) to furnish a complete positive train control (PTC) system on its entire commuter rail network.

 

The scope of work will include design, integration, delivery of materials, on board and field installation, testing, commissioning, technical support and documentation for the PTC system.

Ansaldo STS says the system will provide an integrated ACSES II and I-ETMS based PTC systems on all commuter rail lines, enabling MBTA to meet its obligations under the Federal Railroad Administration requirements.

Ansaldo STS Chief Executive Officer Stefano Siragusa says he is “proud to work with MBTA on [its] new PTC system. We are confident that our world-renowned products and experienced technological capabilities will provide the utmost safety to [the] future system.”
