HNTB adds two experts to PTC team

HNTB Corporation hired two rail experts who will be responsible for the firm's Positive Train Control (PTC) work.

David Nolle, PE, has been named senior project manager – rail and transit systems. Nolle is responsible for working with clients nationwide on PTC and intelligent transportation systems projects. He is based in the firm’s Dallas, Texas, office.

Nolle is a professional engineer with nearly three decades of experience as a systems engineer in the transportation and telecommunications industry. He has extensive experience in PTC design, communications and transportation systems for ITS, traffic signal systems, tunnel control and communications, control centers and computer systems.

He has served as a project manager and project engineer for the design of various fiber optic, copper, spread spectrum, and microwave communications systems to transport data, voice and video.

“David is well-positioned to provide collaborative support to our rail and transit clients nationwide as they implement solutions to improve safety and add capacity to overburdened systems,” said Ian Choudri, HNTB national rail and transit business development director and senior vice president.

Prior to joining HNTB, Nolle led the PTC and communications engineering group in the southwest for another engineering firm.

Nolle is a registered engineer in Texas and California. He earned a Master of Science, electrical engineering, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Bachelor of Science, electrical engineering, from Michigan Technological University.

Additionally, Aaron Marx has been hired as project manager, Positive Train Control systems. He is a technical resource for the firm and works with public- and private-sector clients across the United States.

Marx has 15 years of experience providing design, PTC and signaling solutions for the private and public sectors. He has worked on high-profile projects nationally and brings a background in managing qualification and system integration testing; directing defect diagnosis, resolution and closeout; overseeing overall system performance; and grade crossing design.

He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in industrial design from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.
