The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has approved construction authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission for grade-crossing upgrades at six crossings.

CSX will install mast-mounted flashing lights and roadway gates at the Freyburg Drive/Township Road 110 grade crossing in Pusheta Township, Auglaize County; the Young Road/County Road 65 and Shaffer Road/Township Road 159 grade crossings in Darke County; the Lockington Road/County Road 132 grade crossing in Shelby County and Norfolk Southern (NS) will do the same at the E. Broadway Street grade crossing in Stark County.

NS and CSX will be responsible for completing construction of the upgrades by February 17, 2014. Funding for the upgrades will be provided by federal funds.

PUCO also has approved construction authorization directing Norfolk Southern to upgrade eight-inch incandescent lights to 12-inch lights at the Weber Road grade crossing in the city of Columbus, Franklin County.

NS will be responsible for completing construction of the upgrade by May 22, 2014. Funding for this project will be shared by the railroad and PUCO.
