The SEPTA PTC system will be based on the ACSES II system. PHW's onboard ACSES OBC will be combined with PHW's 9-Aspect ATC equipment, which will replace the existing Cab Signal System (CSS) installed on SEPTA rail vehicles.
The onboard PTC system will communicate with wayside locations via track circuits, track-mounted transponders and an onboard, 220 MHz radio system. A new Aspect Display Unit will be provided that will display both PTC and cab signal information to the train engineer.
