PUCO approves upgrades at five rail crossings

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has approved funding authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission directing rail crossing warning device upgrades at five crossings.

 

Norfolk Southern will Install LED lights, new gates mechanisms and upgraded circuitry at the crossing at N. Kenova Street in the village of South Point, Lawrence County.

CSX Transportation will install flashing lights and gates at the crossing at Shirk Road/County Road 224, near Marysville, Union County.

Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway will install flashing lights and gates at the crossings at Schwemly Road/Township Road 41 in Chatfield Township, Crawford County, at Newton Street/Jefferson Street in the city of Norwalk, Huron County and at Williams Road/Township Road 27 in Ridgefield Township, Huron County.

The upgrades are to be completed no later than July 29, 2015 and will be paid for with federal funds.
