BNSF plans $244 million in California, Kansas for 2015 capex

BNSF continues to detail plans for its $6-billion capital program with $141 million estimated to be spent in California and $103 million in Kansas.

 

The program in California will include 880 miles of track surfacing and undercutting work, the replacement of nearly 54 miles of rail and close to 118,000 ties. It includes construction of three miles of double track and a siding as part of the Tehachapi Rail Improvement Project along the Mojave subdivision. BNSF also plans to expand the parking capacity at the Stockton Intermodal Facility.

The program in Kansas will include 1,284 miles of track surfacing and undercutting work, the replacement nearly 33 miles of rail and about 94,500 ties, as well as signal upgrades for positive train control. It includes constructing double track from Bonita to Hillsdale along the Fort Scott subdivision totaling11 miles and improving the switching efficiency at the Logistics Park Kansas City Intermodal Facility (located in Edgerton) through yard track expansion

In addition to California and Kansas, since announcing its plans to invest $6-billion in its system in 2015, the railroad has outlined specific state plans for Nebraska, Minnesota, Washington state, Illinois, North Dakota, Texas, Missouri, Wisconsin, Colorado and Montana.
