BNSF plans $385 million capital program in Missouri, Kansas

BNSF plans to invest an estimated $385 million on maintenance and rail capacity expansion projects in Missouri and Kansas this year.
BNSF will enhance capacity in Missouri with $210 million by extending a siding at Jeff, Mo., to 10,000 feet and by improving a bridge over the Missouri River near St. Louis.
BNSF will continue its track maintenance program in Missouri, which will include more than 3,500 miles of track surfacing and undercutting work, the replacement of 195 miles of rail and almost 390,000 crossties, as well as signal upgrades for federally mandated positive train control (PTC).
BNSF will also invest an estimated $175 million in Kansas, which will include completing construction of BNSF’s Logistics Park Kansas City Intermodal facility in Edgerton; construction of a new 10,000-foot siding and extension of industry track to 3,000 feet near Spring Hill, Kan.; improvements to BNSF’s Topeka shops and signal upgrades for PTC.
BNSF will continue its maintenance program in Kansas, which will include about 2,500 miles of track surfacing and undercutting work, the replacement of nearly 100 miles of rail and about 375,000 crossties.
