KCS to expand supplier diversity program

Written by Jenifer Nunez, assistant editor

As part of a continuing commitment to diversity and inclusion, Kansas City Southern recently expanded the scope of its U.S. Supplier Diversity Program Initiative (SDPI) for suppliers, contractors and professional service providers to include small businesses, as well as disadvantaged, minority-owned, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses.

The SDPI is designed to bring the added value of diversity to the purchasing process by proactively seeking high-quality, certified, diverse businesses the opportunity to participate as potential suppliers for products and services for the company.

A diverse supply base is an important part of the procurement process, noted the company. The purchasing group works with all business units and suppliers across the U.S. and Mexico to establish the best value for KCS.
