KCS to focus on restricted speed compliance

In July, KCS' U.S. transportation team is swapping its regular Safety Tuesday messages with a month-long outreach and a testing blitz focused on restricted speed compliance.

In addition to field operations testing, transportation employees will be required to take a restricted speed quiz. Quiz results will be evaluated and considered in the development of future training programs.

"While we've been fortunate at KCS, the industry has experienced some very unfortunate incidents as a result of non-compliance with work practices," explained vice president transportation Mark Redd. "With the July speed testing blitz, we are working to ensure that KCS employees are fully aware of and properly interpreting the rules that ensure a safe operation for employees, our customers and the greater community."
