Canadian National (CN) Board of Directors appointed Robert Pace as its vice-chairman, effective immediately.

Pace, upon successful election as a director at CN’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders in April 2014, will become chairman after David McLean, CN’s current chairman, reaches the board’s retirement age of 75 next year. As vice-chairman, Pace will work with McLean during the coming months to ensure a smooth succession.

Pace, who joined the board of directors in 1994 when he chaired the CN audit committee and then the human resources and compensation committee, is president and chief executive officer of The Pace Group Ltd., based in Halifax, N.S., Canada, which is engaged in radio broadcasting, real estate and environmental services.
