Union Pacific plans to enhance Kansas' transportation infrastructure by investing more than $9 million in the rail line that runs between Menoken and Junction City.

The project includes replacing nearly 68,000 crossties, spreading 29,600 tons of ballast and renewing the surfaces at 114 crossings.

UP also plans to improve Wyoming’s transportation infrastructure by investing nearly $10 million in the rail line that runs between Rawlins and Green River.

The 134-mile project includes replacing more than 75,000 crossties, spreading 34,600 tons of ballast, renewing the surfaces at 11 crossings and replacing a total of nearly two miles of rail in various curves.

Projects in both states are underway and scheduled to be completed in December.
