Union Pacific to perform trackwork in Illinois

Union Pacific plans to enhance Illinois' transportation infrastructure by investing $5.4 million in the rail line that runs between North Lake and Northbrook.

The project is in progress and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December.

The project includes replacing 32,600 crossties, spreading 15,000 tons of ballast and renewing the surfaces at 18 grade crossings.
