The project will begin Nov. 16 and is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 21. This critical infrastructure maintenance will be performed 24 hours a day during the time period to minimize the impact on the community and UP operations.
The project will replace the existing rail line inside the tunnel, which amounts to a little more than one mile of track. Existing track will be removed in 40-foot segments and new track will be installed. The project includes replacing 3,600 tons of ballast inside the tunnel to help maintain a stable roadbed. A UP team of 100 will be working at the project site.
