Canadian National said that members of the United Steelworkers have ratified a new collective agreement covering approximately 2,800 maintenance-of-way employees in Canada.

The three-year contract, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2012, provides wage increases along with standard benefit improvements to the USW members at CN.

Keith Creel, CN executive vice-president and chief operating officer, said, “CN welcomes the ratification of this new collective agreement by USW members. This agreement, negotiated before the previous contact expired at the end of 2011, underscores the constructive dialogue CN has developed with the USW.”
