Kansas City Southern (KCS) President and CEO Patrick Ottensmeyer has been named as the U.S. chairman of its strategic trade initiatives working group by the U.S.-Mexico CEO Dialogue.

“Pat is the right person to lead this effort at an important juncture in the U.S.’s relationship with Mexico, our neighbor and third largest trading partner,” said Myron Brilliant, executive vice president and head of international affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “He is deeply committed to advancing trade and investment between the U.S. and Mexico, and he is a recognized leader in a railroad industry that connects our highly integrated North American economy.”

Officials say the strategic trade initiatives working group will focus on further developing the economic relationship between the U.S. and Mexico by suggesting private sector solutions for both governments designed to iron out bilateral trade difficulties.

Originally founded in 2013, the U.S.-Mexico CEO Dialogue is intended to serve business leaders in both countries by improving economic collaboration “as a private-sector complement to the government-to-government High-Level Economic Dialogue,” according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
