Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) appointed Francis Chinnici as senior vice president, engineering and purchasing. Robert Stevens, vice president and chief engineering officer, will retire, effective Feb. 28.

Chinnici joins FEC following 29 years with CSX where he served in a series of positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as vice president purchasing and materials.

“I am pleased to welcome Fran to this new position with FEC. His many years of experience with CSX makes Fran the ideal candidate to lead these two important functions at FEC,” said President and CEO Jim Hertwig. “The increased engineering projects and capital plan with purchasing will produce positive synergies for FEC.

“Bob has been a driving force in FEC’s expansion efforts during the past few years and instrumental in guiding the development of South Florida Port infrastructure projects for the FEC,” said Hertwig. “Bob has left the FEC capital projects in great shape for Fran to continue. We wish him well in his retirement at 38 years in the rail industry and the past six years at FEC.”
