Gulf & Ohio Railways (G&O) has promoted Doc Claussen, Todd Burchette, Ronnie McKenzie and Matt Gedney to executive positions with the railroad.

Doc Claussen has been named vice chairman. Claussen, who is currently on a sabbatical to pursue a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, also serves as vice chairman of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association. He has 10 years of experience with Gulf & Ohio following a career as a diagnostic and interventional radiologist.

Todd Burchette has been appointed president. Burchette has had 26 years of experience in the railroad industry, nearly all of it with Gulf and Ohio, most recently as chief operating officer. His COO duties are being merged into the president’s position. He began his railroad career as a track laborer on the Yadkin Valley Railroad in North Carolina and has now become the company’s top executive officer.

Ronnie McKenzie has been promoted to chief marketing officer. McKenzie has served successfully in both operating and marketing positions with Gulf & Ohio during his 28 years of service with the company.

Matt Gedney has been promoted to chief business development officer. Gedney has an extensive and very successful background heading up the industrial development program at Golf & Ohio’s Lancaster & Chester Railroad.

“All of these people have contributed significantly to the success of Gulf & Ohio Railways,” said G&O Chairman Pete Claussen. “Their promotions are well deserved reflections on their dedication to their jobs and to the company.”
