Hudson Bay Railway reopens

The Hudson Bay Railway line reopened on July 5, 2014, with freight train 295 arriving in Churchill, SK, Canada, carrying supplies for the community after OmniTRAX Canada suspended service due to permafrost issues.

OmniTRAX Canada Hudson Bay Railway is working towards resuming its regular freight service schedule as soon as possible and has implemented a plan for ongoing track maintenance throughout the shipping season. OmniTRax Canada Hudson Bay Railway says the substantial resurfacing work completed over the past weeks will greatly improve the reliability of the line for all of its customers.

"We would like to thank our customers for their patience during the rail service suspension," stated OmniTRAX Canada. "We know it was a challenge for many and for that we apologize. We work hard to provide northern communities with access to the goods and services they need and take pride in being a link between communities. We would also like to thank our exceptional staff, contractors and industry partners for their hard work and commitment to restoring full service on the Hudson Bay Railway."
