Anacostia Rail Holdings (ARH) subsidiary, Northern Lines Railway (NLR), has reached an agreement with BNSF to extend NLR's lease of rail lines to 2025.

Northern Lines Railway commenced in 2005 to operate BNSF trackage in central Minnesota. The railway provides local rail services to a number of customers, including Martin Marietta, WestRock, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Maiers Transport & Warehousing, Inc., Wenner Gas Company, Coldspring, Electrolux, Manions Wholesale Building Supplies, Rennenburg Hardwoods, Mathew Hall and Borgert Products, among others.

“We are pleased to extend our agreement with BNSF, to continue serving the growing central Minnesota market,” said ARH President Peter Gilbertson. “The combination of NLR local service with the outstanding BNSF network provides our customers with attractive shipping options.”

“We’ve been pleased with Anacostia & Pacific’s excellent record of safe rail operations and service to our mutual customers,” said Dean Wise, BNSF vice president of network strategy.
