Continental Rail Corp., a holding company formed to acquire and operate shortline and regional railroads, named Ambassador Ned Siegel to its board of directors.

Siegel will play a key role in advising the company as it seeks to grow through shortline rail acquisitions. He was sworn in as the ambassador of the United States of America to the commonwealth of The Bahamas on October 26, 2007.

“We are honored and indeed privileged to have Ambassador Siegel join our board of directors,” said Continental Rail Corp. CEO Neil Swartz . “We look forward to his leadership and guidance as we execute our plan to establish a leading shortline railroad company through strategic acquisitions.”

Prior to serving the country as ambassador, Siegel was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as a representative of the United States to the United Nations, where he served from September 2006 – January 2007 under Ambassador John Bolton as a senior advisor to the U.S. Mission to the 61st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

“I have worked with members of the management team of Continental Rail Corp. in the past and I am confident in their ability to lead and build a solid railroad organization,” said Siegel. “I believe that the current resurgence of the U.S. railroad industry provides a great opportunity not only for the economic growth of local communities, but also for those served by the industry. I am committed to the success of Continental Rail Corp. and I look forward to working alongside management to construct a forward thinking company.”
