Watco Transloading has acquired River Road Terminals and has entered into a 10-year lease of the underlying 38 acres of real estate. At the end of the term of the lease, Watco has the option to take ownership of the real estate.

River Road Terminals handles various dry bulk commodities including fertilizer, salt, anthracite, lignite and other ores and minerals. The terminal is located at Mile Marker 601 on the Ohio River. Rail access is provided by RJCC Central Kentucky shortline operated by R.J. Corman, which interchanges with the CSX in Louisville and Winchester, Ken., and Norfolk Southern in Lexington, Ken.

River Road Terminals has been owned by Paul Buddeke for more than 40 years.

“The River Road Terminal will be a great addition to the Watco network and I look forward to the value I know the Watco Team will bring to the terminal’s team and great customers,” said Buddeke.

“We look forward to working with the great customers who utilize River Road Terminal today and continuing to provide solutions to their logistical needs,” said Will Patterson, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Watco. “This adds a third terminal in the Louisville/Jeffersonville area for Watco and serves to diversify the commodities and industries we serve.”
