Watco promotes one, hires another

Watco Terminal and Port Services has named Albert Perez II terminal manager at the Linden, N.J., location. In this role, Perez will be responsible for maintaining high-quality customer service, ensuring targeted profitability and supporting the overall attainment of expected performance goals. He will also coach his team and driving safety and operational efficiencies.

 

Prior to joining the Watco team, he worked as a site leader for Railserve, Inc., from 2008 to 2015.

I other news, Watco Transportation has named Chris Morehouse director, assistant controller. He will be responsible for leading the operations accounting teams to provide customer-focused accounting support.

Morehouse began his career with Watco in October 2014 as an accounting manager. Prior to joining Watco, he served as corporate finance manager at Payless Shoesource from 2010 to 2014. He worked for Sprint Nextel from 2006 to 2010 and held the positions of senior accountant, senior financial analyst and financial analyst.

Scott Henderson has accepted the position of general manager for Watco Transportation Services' Pacific Sun Railroad. He most recently served as general manager for the Baton Rouge Southern Railroad in Louisiana.

Henderson will be responsible for the day-to-day operations on the Pacific Sun and will report directly to the director of operations. His duties will be to achieve performance goals with optimum safety, economy, efficiency and effectiveness along with overseeing customer relationships in accordance with Watco’s Customer First Foundation Principles.

Henderson began his railroad career as a locomotive engineer in 1996 with Conrail and transferred to Canadian National in 2000 before joining the Watco Team in March of 2009 with the Grand Elk Railroad in Kalamazoo, Mich. He then moved to Kansas to serve as assistant general manager for the South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad before heading south to Louisiana as the BRS general manager.

Duane Stephenson has joined the Watco Transportation Services Team in the position of general manager of the Baton Rouge Southern Railroad. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations on the BRS including achieving per¬formance goals with optimum safety, economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

Stephenson brings a broad knowledge of rail operations, safety and team member develop¬ment. He previously worked for Genesee & Wyoming, where he held multiple management positions over the past five years. His most recent position was operations manager where he led his region in the lowest human factor incident rating per 200,000 man hours and going on five years injury free. He began his railroad career with Lodestar Logistics as the logistics coordinator in 2004.
