Tim Rock to lead freight and intermodal sector of TranSystems

TranSystems Corp., a transportation-focused consulting firm, has chosen Tim Rock as its market sector leader for its freight rail and intermodal sector.  

Rock is a principal and senior vice president and currently holds the role of regional vice president for the company’s southeast region.

He has previously held several positions at TranSystems, including rail team leader, director of operations and regional vice president for the Midwest region.

“Tim has in-depth construction management and rail expertise, coupled with a strong background in sales, business development and operations,” said Chief Sales and Marketing Officer John Grow. “TranSystems is fortunate to have Tim take the lead for this sector at this point in time, as we position to strengthen and broaden our service offerings to the industry.”

TranSystems’ freight rail and intermodal sector requires work in planning, design, construction and operations support for track, bridges and facilities for all classes of railroads, intermodal and port entities and energy companies, as well as manufacturers and distributors. The company says about 200 engineers, planners and technical staff work in this sector.

Rock is an alumnus of Texas A&M University, where he received his Master of Science in construction management. He previously earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Washington and Lee University.

He is described as an active member of the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance of Way Association serving on Committee 24 – Education and Training. He participates in the Construction Management Association of America and the Society of American Military Engineers, as well. Rock is also a military veteran, having served as a Company Commander for Combat Engineer Company with 1st Armor Division during Desert Storm.
