RailComm provides yard system in Texas

Written by Jenifer Nunez, assistant editor

RailComm has been selected by a North American energy company to provide a wireless remote control yard system for its facility located in Pasadena, Texas.

The power switch machines will be remotely controlled by a combination of RailComm’s Domain Operations Controller (DOC) System and handheld DTMF radios. The DOC System includes a workstation that allows the user to monitor device status and review operation logs of all system activity. The workstation will display a graphical representation of the yard area and the user will be able to view all of the devices in the field.

The DOC System will be provided via a cloud-based delivery model, which allows companies to outsource hardware and application hosting, while maintaining complete control of customer support activities. This type of service allows remote control of any mission critical device for rail operations from any web-enabled PC. Capital costs are significantly reduced, as well as IT support costs. The result is that companies can implement effective solutions for security, zero downtime and disaster recovery.

RailComm’s 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum RADiANT data radios will be used to establish a wireless communications network linking each automated switch machine back to RailComm’s DOC System.
