Bombardier Transportation, in consortium with China Railway Signal & Communication Corp (CRSC), has won an order to deliver the BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 200 mainline signaling solution on the Bin Qasim to Mirpur Mathelo Double Line Section of the Karachi-Lahore line in Pakistan. The contract, valued at approximately $57 million, with Bombardier's share amounting to approximately $38 million, was awarded by Pakistan Railways (PR).

Leading
the consortium, Bombardier is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation
and commissioning of the modern signaling system on a turnkey basis for the 328-km
(203-mile) line, which includes 23 stations. The scope will include Bombardier’s
globally installed EBI Lock 950 computer-based interlocking (CBI) and EBI
Screen 2000 control center systems.

This
is the first in the planned upgrade of the Karachi-Lahore line to modernize the
signaling systems in Pakistan and will be the first electronic interlockings to
be delivered in Pakistan.

Anders
Lindberg, president, Rail Control Solutions, Bombardier Transportation, said: "This
is an important contract for Bombardier – introducing our proven EBI Lock and EBI
Screen technology in a new market. We are also pleased to be able to
re-establish our relationship with the customer and that our technology will
contribute to the modernization of the rail signaling systems in Pakistan.

INTERFLO
200 signaling solutions are typically used for busy, high speed networks where headways
are reduced and higher safety levels are required. INTERFLO 200 can be complemented
with a national automatic train protection (ATP) system and can later be upgraded
to European Rail Traffic Management system (ERTMS) operation. INTERFLO 200 has
been installed extensively across the world in countries including Brazil,
Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland,
Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Thailand.
