Caltrain construction, maintenance Feb. 21 – 26

Feb. 21-25, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., crews will be finishing up work on Caltrain's Grade Crossing Improvement Program. Work will take place at the following locations: • Burlingame: Broadway, Oak Grove Avenue and Peninsula Avenue. • Redwood City: Main Street and Chestnut Street. • San Mateo: Villa Terrace Avenue, First Avenue, Second Avenue, Third Avenue, Fourth Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Ninth Avenue. • Menlo Park: Encinal Avenue, Glenwood Avenue, Oak Grove Avenue and Ravenswood Avenue. • Atherton: Fair Oaks Lane.

Work on a $2.8-million
project to add additional signals to the Caltrain signal system will take place
in Sunnyvale Feb. 20-22 and San Mateo to Redwood City Feb. 24-26.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, crews welded
and repaired switches on the tracks in San Francisco and replaced switches on
the tracks between the Broadway and Hayward Park stations. Feb. 21-25, crews
will dump ballast along the tracks at various locations between the Millbrae
and Sunnyvale stations. The ballast will be used for future maintenance
projects.

On Feb. 26, work will be
done on the tracks that cross Tilton Avenue. The work is part of a project to
replace the crossties on the tracks that cross four bridges in San Mateo. Work
will take place each week between the hours of 10 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m.
Saturday. The work began on the northbound tracks that cross Tilton Avenue and
proceeds south to Monte Diablo, Santa Inez and Poplar avenues, in that order.
After work on the northbound tracks is complete, work will continue on the
southbound tracks, beginning with Poplar Avenue. During the project, trains may
operate on a single track at the Burlingame and San Mateo stations.

Feb. 22-25, crews will
replace switch ties on the tracks near the San Jose Diridon station.
