March 1-4, between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., crews will be finishing up work on Caltrain's Grade Crossing Improvement Program. Work will take place in Redwood City at Main Street and Chestnut Street; in Menlo Park at Encinal Avenue, Glenwood Avenue, Oak Grove Avenue and Ravenswood Avenue; and in Atherton at Fair Oaks Lane.

Work on a $2.8-million
project to add additional signals to the Caltrain signal system took place Feb.
26-27 from San Mateo to Redwood City and Feb. 27-28 in San Mateo.

March 1-4 crews will weld
and repair switches on the tracks in San Francisco. On Feb. 28, crews welded
and repaired switches on the tracks between the Belmont and Atherton stations.

On Feb. 26, work was done
on the tracks that cross Santa Inez Avenue. This is the end of a project to
replace the crossties on the tracks that cross four bridges in San Mateo. The
work began on the northbound tracks that cross Tilton Avenue and proceeded
south to Monte Diablo, Santa Inez and Poplar avenues, in that order.

On Feb. 28, crews dumped
ballast along the tracks at various locations between the Atherton and Lawrence
stations. The ballast will be used for future maintenance projects. Feb. 28-March
4, crews will replace switch ties on the tracks near the San Jose Diridon station.
At the same time, ballast will be dumped along the tracks near the station to
be used for future maintenance projects.
