Work continues on a $2.8-million project to add additional signals to the Caltrain signal system.
A $2.1-million project to improve the radio communications system that operates the signals and switches on the railroad tracks is underway. The project will add a second radio channel, which will increase the system's capacity. Work will take place Oct. 17-23 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 4 a.m. at several locations near San Francisco and the Diridon and Tamien stations in San Jose.
The City of Sunnyvale has closed the Wolfe Road Bridge for repairs. Although the four-lane bridge crosses the Caltrain tracks, there will be no impact to Caltrain service.
From Sunday, Oct. 18 to Thursday, Oct. 22, crews will replace worn track panels and cross ties on the tracks between the San Francisco and Millbrae stations. Oct. 18-20, crews will weld and grind the switches, and replace worn asphalt, rails, ties and ballast on the tracks between the Belmont and Menlo Park stations.
Oct. 21-22, crews will weld and grind the switches and replace worn asphalt, rails, ties and ballast on the tracks near the Redwood City station.
