Caltrain construction, maintenance update May 7-14

Written by jrood

Caltrain will reconstruct the East Bellevue Avenue crossing beginning at 8 a.m., Friday, May 7 and continuing through 6 a.m., Tuesday, May 11. During that time the street will be closed to through traffic between Claremont Street and San Mateo Drive. During construction, electronic message boards will be used to divert east-west traffic to Peninsula and Poplar avenues.

On Friday, May 7, a
geometry car will operate on the Caltrain tracks between San Francisco and San
Jose. This on-track vehicle outfitted with a sophisticated computer system is
used twice a year to measure and record the alignment of the tracks.

On May 14, Caltrain will
use an on-track truck to spray weed killer along the right of way. Weed
abatement is necessary to prevent brush fires on and around the train tracks.

May 9-13, crews will
replace crossties, weld and resurface the tracks between the Bayshore and San
Mateo stations. May 9, crews will weld on the tracks between the Sunnyvale and
San Jose Diridon stations.
