As part of the Santa Clara, Calif., Station improvement project, work will continue on the new pedestrian underpass. The underpass will connect the north- and southbound platforms, allowing two trains to pass through the station at the same time and improving safety for pedestrians in the station.

The work is part of an
18-month station improvement project that will add a new wider, longer
center-boarding platform and extend the southern platform 150 feet.

Construction on a VTA
project that will improve safety at eight grade crossings in Sunnyvale,
Mountain View and Palo Alto continues. Nov. 14-18 between the hours of 8 p.m.
and 4 a.m., crews will work at the Castro Street and Rengstorff Avenue crossings
in Mountain View.

Work on the Mathilda Avenue
bridge in Sunnyvale, which crosses the Caltrain tracks, is moving forward. The
$25-million project will widen the bridge and improve the approach for vehicles
crossing the bridge. The construction will not cause any disruption to train
traffic.

Nov.-19, crews will replace
switch timbers in the San Francisco train yard. Nov. 13 and 14, Caltrain used
an on-track truck to spray weed killer along the right-of-way. Weed abatement
is necessary to prevent brush fires on and around the train tracks.

Nov.-19, crews will weld on
the tracks between the Millbrae and Hayward Park stations. On Nov. 14, crews
replaced crossties between the Belmont and Atherton stations.

Nov. 14-18, crews will
weld, resurface the tracks and replace crossties between the Sunnyvale and San
Jose Diridon station.
