Caltrain construction, maintenance update, Oct. 24-30

Work on Caltrain's Grade Crossing Improvement Program, which will enhance safety at 25 grade crossings in San Mateo County, continues in Burlingame, Menlo Park and Atherton. Throughout the project area, at least one lane of the impacted street will remain open. Flagmen will direct traffic and pedestrians around the construction.

Work continues on a $2.8-million
project to add additional signals to the Caltrain signal system. Work will take
place Oct. 24-30 between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 4 a.m. in Redwood City.

A $2.1-million project to
improve the radio communications system that operates the signals and switches
on the railroad tracks is under way. The project will add a second radio
channel, which will increase the system’s capacity. Work will take place Oct.
26-30 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. at several locations near San
Francisco and the Diridon and Tamien stations in San Jose.

Oct. 25-29, crews will weld
and grind the switches, and replace worn asphalt, rails, ties and ballast on
the tracks between the San Francisco and Millbrae stations. Oct. 25-29 crews
