Cary, N.C., rail project gets federal funds

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE A $14.7-million rail improvement project in Cary, N.C., will construct a new grade-separated crossing under the railroad near Walker Street, local newspapers report. The crossing will provide an alternative emergency service connection from south to north Cary, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

The Cary
project received $1.1 million in federal money to go toward the improvements at
Walker Street. Partners in the project are the town of Cary, the North Carolina
Railroad and Norfolk Southern.
