DB boss Mehdorn tenders resignation

Written by

THE chief executive of German Rail (DB) Mr Hartmut Mehdorn offered to resign today after the company admitted spying on its workforce.

At a press conference, Mehdorn said: "I have offered the chairman of the supervisory board my resignation. I will talk with him this week about the details. I assume the chairman of the supervisory board will have a successor before the summer break. Even if I have done nothing wrong, the most important thing is to put an end to this destructive debate about the railway.”60056.jpg
DB used private investigators to conduct secret surveillance of large numbers of its workforce in an anti-corruption drive, but the admission drew widespread criticism in Germany, prompting speculation about Mehdorn’s future. His successor is yet to be announced.
