D.C. Metro Blue, Green lines undergoing weekend renovation

Written by jrood

July 23-25, Metro in the Washington, D.C., area will make upgrades to its track on the Blue and Green lines to improve reliability and service. As a result of this crucial work aimed at keeping the railroad in a state of good repair, riders can expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

Blue Line Track Maintenance.
Metrorail customers traveling between the Stadium-Armory and Addison
Road-Seat Pleasant Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes to their
travel time to allow Metro to replace concrete slabs underneath the rails to
help ensure a state of good repair. Trains will share one track between these
locations from 10 p.m., Friday, July 23, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, July
25.

Green Line Track
Maintenance.

Metrorail customers traveling between the Fort Totten and Prince
George’s Plaza Metrorail stations should add at least 20 minutes to their
travel time because Metro will weld new rail on the tracks in that area, which
ultimately will provide a more reliable ride. Trains will share one track
between these locations on Saturday, July 24, and Sunday, July 25, from 7 a.m.
to 6 p.m.
