D.C. Metro schedules weekend track and signal work

Written by jrood

Track circuit repairs on the Red Line and track maintenance on the Orange Line the weekend of August 14-16 will cause inbound and outbound trains to take turns sharing one track. Customers should add at least 30 minutes of time to their trips.

There will be no Red Line
trains serving the Fort Totten Metrorail station during that time. Due to track
circuit repairs, Red Line trains will operate between the Shady Grove and
Brookland-CUA Metrorail stations and between the Glenmont and Takoma Metrorail
stations from 10 p.m. August 14, to closing (midnight) on August 16. Free
shuttle buses will take Red Line riders between Brookland-CUA, Fort Totten and
the Takoma Metrorail stations.

Metrorail customers
traveling between the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail
stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro will
be replacing rail. Trains will share one track between these locations from 8
p.m., August 14, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, August 16.

On Saturday,
August 15, and Sunday, August 16, every other Orange Line train traveling
toward the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metrorail station will terminate at the West
Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail station and return to the New Carrollton
Metrorail station.
