D.C. Metro schedules weekend work on Red, Blue, Green lines

Visioning Sessions August 27-29, the Washington, D.C., Metro will upgrade its track and platforms and trim weeds on the Red, Blue and Green lines to improve long-term reliability and service. As a result of this crucial work, which is critical to maintain the railroad in a state of good repair, riders can expect delays of up to 30 minutes



Red Line Platform
Rehabilitation. 

Metrorail customers traveling between the Shady Grove and
Twinbrook Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel
time because Metro will repair the deteriorated platform at the Rockville
Metrorail station to return it to a state of good repair. Trains will share one
track between these locations the entire weekend from 8 p.m. Friday, August 27,
to closing, (midnight) on Sunday, August 29.



Blue Line Track
Maintenance. 

Metrorail customers traveling between the Stadium-Armory and
Addison Road-Seat Pleasant Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes to
their travel time to allow Metro to replace concrete slabs underneath the rails
to help ensure more reliable service and to keep the track bed in a state of
good repair. Trains will share one track between these locations from 10 p.m.
Friday, August 27, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, August 29



Blue Line Track
Maintenance. 

Metrorail customers traveling between the Braddock Road and Van
Dorn Metrorail stations on the Blue Line should add at least 30 minutes to
their travel time to allow Metro to trim weeds along the tracks. Blue Line
trains will share one track between these locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on
Saturday, August 28, and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 29. 



Green Line Track
Maintenance. 

Metrorail customers traveling between the Greenbelt and College
Park-U of Md. Metrorail stations should add at least 20 minutes to their travel
time because Metro will weld new rail on the tracks in that area to keep them
maintained in a state of good repair to ensure reliable service. Trains will
share one track between these locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August
28 and Sunday, August 29.
