Final weekend for downtown San Jose rail rehab project

Written by jrood

Weekend motorists, cyclists and pedestrians using the intersection of Almaden Boulevard and San Carlos Street, and VTA light rail riders using or passing through the Convention Center Light Rail Station insane Jose, Calif., should allow more time for their trips the weekend of Nov. 7-8.

Three sections of aging
light rail track running in the median of San Carlos Street between Market Street
and Almaden Boulevard in downtown San Jose require replacement.

This is the third of three
consecutive weekends (one weekend at each site) of rail replacement work. At
least one lane of traffic in either direction on San Carlos Street is expected
to remain open at all times throughout the weekend construction period, while
Almaden Boulevard traffic will be detoured one block when it reaches San Carlos
Street.  The work is not expected
to impact the Monday morning commute.

During the work, the Convention
Center Light Rail Station will be closed and free substitute bus service will
be provided around the construction work. Trains traveling to the Winchester
Light Rail Station, during the weekend closures of Convention Center Station,
will temporarily make stops at the Children’s Discovery Museum Station in order
to provide access to the substitute bus service.
