HNTB names Gertler a senior vice president

February 14, 2001 HNTB Corporation and HNTB Holdings Ltd. named Peter Gertler a senior vice president. Gertler, who leads the firm's high-speed rail services group, is located in the firm's Oakland, Calif., office. Gertler has 23 years of experience in public transportation and program management, including conventional and high-speed rail across the United States and around the world.

Since
joining the firm in 2004, Gertler has worked as a project manager and technical
lead on numerous high-profile projects and initiatives and led the firm’s rail
and transit practice before becoming HNTB’s high-speed rail services chair.
Under his direction, HNTB has become a leader in the effort to bring high-speed
rail to America. Throughout his career, Gertler has focused on developing and
implementing public transportation alternatives through comprehensive and
innovative technical and analytical means, as well as through broad-based
community and stakeholder outreach.

Gertler is
an executive board member and president emeritus and board member of the
Association for California High-Speed Rail; a program chair for the American
Public Transportation Association’s High-Speed and Intercity Rail Committee; a
member on the High-Speed Rail Development Council for the American Road and Transportation
Builders Association; board member of the International Air Rail Organization
and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
