HNTB Corporation (HNTB) has promoted Joseph Guzzi, PMP, to Pennsylvania office leader.

Guzzi is based in the firm’s Philadelphia office and brings more than 38 years of experience in client services and project management, representatives say. According to HNTB spokesman David Fridling, Guzzi’s effective start date in his new role was Nov. 4, 2016.

He serves the firm’s multi-disciplinary transportation infrastructure practice, leading more than 150 Pennsylvania-based professionals in four offices throughout the state. As office leader, he now manages planning, directing and implementing client relations and oversees major projects in Pennsylvania.

“Joe’s extensive knowledge and experience with Pennsylvania’s transportation infrastructure is of great value to our clients,” said Mike Sweeney, PE, president of HNTB’s Northeast division. “Pennsylvania has many opportunities to improve mobility, and we are confident in Joe’s ability to provide leadership for solving tough issues and helping deliver complex transportation programs.”

Guzzi joined the company in 2007 and has since played a vital role in supporting HNTB’s rail and transit clients and in growing the rail and transit practice in the east, officials say. He has also managed complex mega and design-build projects for HNTB, working as client service leader for several Pennsylvania clients.

Before he joined HNTB, Guzzi served as division engineer for Amtrak in Philadelphia and manager of engineering maintenance and construction for the CP Rail / D&H Railway in Albany, N.Y.

Throughout his career, Guzzi has managed more than $1 billion in capital and maintenance railway infrastructure programs, representatives say.
