Holland LP marks 75th anniversary in business
Written by jroodFebruary 14, 2001 In 1935, Cyrus Holland founded Holland Co, now Holland LP, to supply railroad car snubbers to the industry. Today, Holland is celebrating 75 years in the railroad supply business.
Cyrus Holland sold the
company in 1965. In 1996, the company purchased a Swiss company that held the
rights to a Russian rail-welding system, thus entering the rail-welding
business. In 1974, Curran Group,
the current owners, bought the company.
Today, Holland is the world
leader in flash-butt rail welding. In addition to full-service welding (mobile, fixed plant and containerized), the company
also builds rail equipment, performs track testing, cleans and repairs railcars, designs and operates
transloading pods and manufactures
components for railcars. Holland
LP moved it its present location in Crete, Ill, in 1998.
