Houston Metro readies rail for Southeast Line extension

Written by jrood

Houston Metro's Southeast Line will be the first planned line extension to have rail installed. The track for this section of the new alignment will be welded from 80-foot sections into continuous 480-foot strings and embedded in reinforced concrete, which will serve as a foundation for the entire 6.6-mile line. The 6.6-mile line will connect to the Main St./Red Line, the East End Line (currently under construction) and the planned University Line. Those lines, together with the North Line extension, will provide roughly 34 miles of service to Houston.
