Written by jrood

Illinois DOT I setting up the first ever business exchange with Chicago area small businesses to connect small disadvantaged businesses (DBEs), many minority- and women-owned enterprises, with the CREATE partners and the rail industry to explore opportunities for near-term and future business partnerships.

DBE and Rail Industry
Business-to-Business Exchange will be held Wednesday, February 10, at US Cellular
Field. 35th Street at Shields Avenue, Gate 3, in Chicago. There will be a
charge of $200 per person to cover expenses.

The morning session, 9
a.m. to noon, is reserved for construction, engineering and design. The
afternoon session, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. will focus on supplies, material and
equipment.

IDOT has reached out to business
organizations, associations, and chambers that represent DBEs in the greater
Chicago area. They asked these groups to identify 30 (total) of their "best,
brightest, and most capable" member firms to represent their organization and
attend this event.

IDOT needs interested
prime contractors, consultants and suppliers who want to expand their railroad business
opportunities in Chicago, increase their understanding of the CREATE program
and build a network of DBE firms to enable compliance with federal (FHWA &
FRA) and state (IDOT) procurement requirements to participate. Space is
limited.
