L.A. Metro Blue Line weekend service to be impacted by construction

Written by jrood

Los Angeles Metro Blue Line passengers will experience travel delays of up to 40 minutes between Washington Station and 7th/Metro Center from Nov. 20 after 9 p.m. until Nov. 22 at the close of service due to construction work to allow the installation of rail track coming from the Expo Line and merging with the Metro Blue Line.

Metro buses will provide
transportation service between Washington Station and 7th/Metro
Center and will stop at San Pedro, Grand, Pico and 7th/Metro Center
stations. The Metro Red and Purple Lines will continue to run on a regular
basis.

This is the first of
eight planned station closures over the next four months to allow construction
work for the Expo Line. Other closures will occur in January, February and
March 2010.

The Expo Line is a new
8.5-mile light rail line under construction from downtown Los Angeles to Culver
City. It will share tracks and two stations with the Metro Blue Line along the
Flower Street portion of the alignment.

The work is being managed
and performed by the Expo Line’s design-build contractor FCI/Flour/Parsons (a
joint venture).
