The open house will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2010, 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Short, formal presentations will be made at 12:20 p.m. and 1:20 p.m., 2029 Century Park East, Concourse Level Conference Center, Century City.
"We know that Century City is a huge regional employment center. The Century City Chamber of Commerce tells us that nearly 40,000 employees commute there from all areas of the County," said David Mieger, Metro's Project Director. "We know it's difficult for them to participate in our normal weeknight community meetings yet it's vital to bring their voices into our decision-making process."
The proposed Westside Subway Extension project, currently in its Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Report phase, will bring much needed public transit access to key employment centers and other important destinations on the Westside. Metro is currently considering two alternative station locations in Century City - at Avenue of the Stars and on Santa Monica Boulevard - one of which will ultimately be recommended as part of a project that could move forward into construction. The Century City station would be one of several new subway stations along the westward extension of the subway from Wilshire/Western.
Construction of the Westside Subway Extension is funded by Measure R which provides $4.2 billion for the Westside Subway Extension down Wilshire Boulevard to approximately the I-405 Freeway.
