Maas to lead TranSystems’ Positive Train Control consulting services

David K. Maas, P.E., assistant vice president, will lead TranSystems' consulting services to support rail industry clients with the implementation of Positive Train Control. He will direct program management and technical support services including GIS mapping and track database management services involving data capture, data extraction and data validation services for track database systems to support PTC implementation; program management services for commercial power installation applications for wayside equipment; and related technical assistance and consulting services to support the rail industry in the implementation of Positive Train Control.

Maas joined TranSystems in
2006 following a 25-year career with CSX Transportation, where he held various
senior engineering positions including assistant vice president of advanced engineering.
In this position, he was responsible for leading the CSXT Positive Train
Control pilot program and working collaboratively with the other Class 1
railroads in advancing the progress of Positive Train Control and other
applications of new technology in the operating departments of the railroad.

Since joining TranSystems, Maas
has been responsible for leading various consultant services to rail industry
clients including GIS mapping and track database management services.
TranSystems has completed data extraction of over 2,000 miles of LiDar data,
24,000 miles of PMV data and development of applications for data processing to
support PTC. Maas also has provided program management services for various
asset management projects as well as oversight of the management and
coordination of commercial power meter installation applications for more than
2,000 locations for various wayside requirements.
