Massachusetts received a total $64.3 million in transit-related stimulus funds on Thursday, $43 million for commuter rail improvements mostly on MBTA’s Haverhill and Fitchburg lines.
Proposed spending includes:
- • $17.4 million Haverhill line double tracking and other improvements
- • $10.2 million Fitchburg line improvements
- • $5.45 million commuter rail station improvements
- • $8 million commuter rail facility improvements
The package also provides $12.8 million for a regional transit center in Greenfield and for tunnel signage and station improvements.
