Metra slates Hanover Park, Fairview Ave. work

Written by jrood

Chicago area Metra commuters at Hanover Park on the Milwaukee West Line and Fairview Avenue on BNSF will experience some delays and inconvenience due to station work.

Beginning June 2 continuing for approximately 5 months, construction
work will take place on new inbound and outbound platforms in Hanover
Park. During this project the platforms will be closed off in sections.

The
first phase of construction includes the closure of the eastern half of
the outbound (north) platform. The pedestrian crossing located east of
the depot will temporarily be closed. Commuters must board and exit
trains from the western half of the outbound platform. Sections of each
platform will be taken out of service with each phase of this project.

The train station and ticket agent will remain open during construction.

At
Fairview Avenue, emergency grade crossing repairs will begin at
Fairview Avenue on June 1 and continue through June 5. This will cause
Fairview Avenue road crossing to close, which will severely impact
access to the south commuter parking lot in the afternoon when
passengers unload on the north platform. It is strongly recommended
that commuters board trains from an alternate station such as Westmont
or Main Street during this project.

Maple Avenue is located
west of the Fairview Avenue station and is the only designated crossing
to access the south parking lot during the afternoon commute.
